Each citation is checked against the source's metadata and abstract, and anything that cannot be confirmed is flagged in the report for you to review. You receive an organised Word document with a title page, chapters, in-text citations and a reference list, ready for you to review, edit and adapt to your course.

If any cited source has been flagged in the Retraction Watch dataset, it is called out explicitly.

Why does the Quality Report show issues in my paper?

Each item names the exact location in the paper, what is missing, a concrete instruction, a search hint for sources, and an estimated time. The list length scales with paper length (5 items for short papers, 7 for typical, 10 for long ones). These are not all of the findings — the earlier per-section table lists every issue — these are the ones we would tackle first.

Submitting it as-is would also breach most institutions' academic-integrity policies.
