Giving the case an analytical boundary
Monash University guidance relates case-study writing to a specific situation and relevant theory. A framework helps you inspect that connection. Begin with the case boundary: what situation does the work address, and which part is relevant to the question? A clear boundary makes it easier to judge whether the discussion remains focused on the assigned task.
Identify the lens through which the paper approaches the case. Consider what it allows the reader to examine and which aspects fall outside it. Return to the main work and distinguish case information from its interpretation. If the case contains incomplete or conflicting material, note how that affects the strength of the discussion and the limits of any conclusions.
Using the framework with the completed work
The accompanying framework can organize the completed case discussion into its question, focus and analytical direction. It helps locate where the work describes the situation, introduces a conceptual lens and develops an interpretation. Prepare questions about those connections. If recommendations appear, examine their supporting discussion and avoid assuming that a brief framework contains every condition relevant to a real decision.
A document associated with eligible case paths
If generated for eligible case work, this framework is produced after completion of the main document. It cannot be purchased separately. Its role is academic organization; receiving it does not establish that extra interviews, observations or data analysis were performed. The applicable work paths and course instructions determine how the case is approached and which material is relevant to its discussion.
Frequently asked questions
Does every case need numerical variables?
No. The relevant material and approach depend on the case and supported work path.
Can a framework replace the case materials?
No. It organizes discussion; underlying material is needed to assess the interpretation.
